Gary Wang is the National Taiwan University professor of Creativity & Entrepreneurship Program and the project lead of Taiwan Acceerator Plus program. Prior to this, Gary was the co-founder and chairman of Pergolas Medical Technolog and the managing director of H&Q Asia Pacific. Earlier, he was also the chairman of Broadweb, a network security company, and CEO of CareMax Capital. Gary previously held many senior executive positions at 3Com in operations, engineering and manufacturing, and served as the president of 3Com APR Operations.

In late 2002, Gary founded a joint venture (H3C) in China with Huawei. In 2005, 3Com became the majority owner of H3C and ultimately acquired 100% of H3C in December 2006. A private equity company agreed to pay $2.2 billion to buy out H3C in 2008.

 

Before his H3C assignment, Gary founded Personal Systems Business Unit (PSB) in 2000 and under his leadership PSB became one of the fastest growing businesses in 3Com. In 1993, Gary also founded 3Com Mobile Product Division (MPD), a business division focused on mobile communication solutions. MPD became the largest global provider of mobile information access products. In 1998, MPD reached annual sales of $1 billion. Gary has served as chairman and board director of the Global Monte Jade Association, the Chiao-Tung NC Alumni Association, and the Mahabodhi USA Association. He is currently an advisor of Taiwan’s Asia Silicon Valley Development Agency. Gary is also a popular cartoonist with a big number of readers in North America, Taiwan and China.

Dr. Gary Wang is the co-founder and chairman of Pergolas Medical Technology. Gary previously held many senior executive positions at 3Com in operations, engineering and manufacturing, and served as president of 3Com APR Operations.

Gary recieved his B.S. in Telecommunication Engineering from Chiao-Tung University, M.S. in Electrical Engineering from Arizona State University, and Ph.D. in Electrical and Computer Engineering from University of Saskatchewan, Canada. He was awarded “Outstanding Alumni” by Chiao-Tung University in 2003. Gary is also an alumnus of Stanford University through the Executive Program of Graduate School of Business.
